SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), Division of Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Health & Wellness is pleased to offer a one and a half-day Health & Wellness Nursing Symposium.

This training will feature a Nurse Practitioner and other professionals in the field of DD who share a similar passion for continuous improvements in service delivery and excelling in a rapidly changing system as it relates to IDD.

Join us for this information packed learning event where you'll have opportunities to join discussions on challenges facing the IDD population today, as well as share knowledge, learn latest trends and build relationships that promote a stronger nursing community.

As a result of the Health & Wellness Nursing Symposium, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the unique challenges of medical decision making faced by people with IDD and proxy caregiver updates.
2. Discuss the therapy and nutritional needs for the IDD population and the clinical impact of the individuals we serve.
3. Identify infection prevention strategies to empower providers and decrease risk for community provider organizations.

Training on Day 1  will begin at 8:30am and end at 5:00pm. Day 2 training will begin at 8:30am and end at 12:30pm; Sign-in will begin at 7:30am on both days.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

This training focus is for DBHDD NOW/COMP Provider Nurses. 

 

ADDITIONAL TRAINING DETAILS

Please note the following:
While there is no fee for this training, participants are responsible for their own lodging, travel and dinner. Breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided each day. Lodging will be provided for invited DBHDD Central Office Staff and State Hospital Nurses only. Please be sure to bring a light jacket or sweater as trainers have no control over room temperature. 

Continuing Education Credits:
CNEs will be applied for through the Georgia Nurses Association. 

Approval to offer specified CNEs is not guaranteed. 

CEUs and Certificates of attendance will be provided to those who attend both days. If you arrive 15 minutes late or leave more than 15 minutes early, we will not be able to issue a Certificate of Attendance or CNEs for your participation.
